What if she couldn't take it anymore?

Note: I wrote this a couple years ago and I recently found it, so I'll share it.

What if she couldn't take it anymore
Couldn't deal with it no more
Gave into everything she was told
Daddy yelling wake up,
Your not a kid anymore!
What are you doing?
Stop fooling around!
What if she laid in her bedroom
Staring at the clock
Listening as every midnight struck
How many days would have gone by
if she hadn't gotten up?
How many hours before it all made sense?
Before it drove her away?
Away from the nightmares that
held her in place.
To a paradise, where she could stay all day
Wishing that the waves could sing her a song
Just like the seashells that know
where they belong.
But you can't live in Fantasies.
You can't keep wishing for centuries.
These are the words she heard.
The words that drove her to insanity.
Can anyone tell me what would have happened if all of us were just as  saddened?
If all of us had given up our will and faded into madness?

Innocent

So innocent, you were so innocent
So innocent, you were such a good friend
So innocent, you could never pretend
So innocent, were the words that you said
So innocent, were your heart and your head
So innocent, that you couldn't defend
So innocent, and you started to fade
So innocent, but you walked the wrong way
So innocent, is all I can say
So innocent, you were just yesterday
So innocent, but you strayed away
So innocent,  I wish you could stay.

It's not about you

It's not about you
It's not about what you've done
It's not about us two
So understand where I'm coming from.

It's not that I don't like you
It's not that you won't understand
It's not that I'm afraid
But I'll explain the best I can.

It's about who I want to be
It's about who I am
It's about figuring out Me
And being happy without your hand.

It's about starting fresh and new
It's about moving on to better things
Even if it means losing you.

It's about Me
And I'm done proving myself
I'm done trying to explain to everyone else
Who I am and Who I was
It's about Who I will be
And Who I will become.

It's so simple
And so plain to see
That today
It's about Me.

Smile

Smile so that I can see that you are happy
Laugh for me even if it's the last time
Sing aloud instead of in hushed tones
Tell me that you're okay and not alone
Skip like you used to; don't walk in straight lines
Make loops and exaggerate everything
To let me know that you are doing fine
Your face is still bright, but it is lacking more
Of the spirit I used to adore
You have disappeared: now there is nothing
You are a person without a shadow
I keep searching and I keep on looking
But my hopes are gone: I have lost this battle
Your smile, your laughter and your voice is there
But everything else is lost to my despair.

When I close my eyes I can hear the Rain

When I close my eyes I can hear the rain
I can see the tears running down your face
I feel your hands: so cold, you are in pain
I taste the bitter sweetness of your fate
The broken words coming through shaken breaths
The screaming that can be heard like thunder
Is louder than the shock of sudden death
For when you hurt my whole world goes under
But don't worry tears don't last forever
The pain goes away faster than you think
So start over; set out on a new endeavor
Rewrite your misfortunes with better ink
And when the flood and thunder return
Don't reject the warmth of a nearby lantern.

No Typical Angel

You're no typical angel
You have no light pretty wings
You don't dress in white gowns
And you don't wear halo-crown rings
But the things that you do have are
3 simple things:

A smile Bright as heaven
A heart made of Gold
And these three simple words

I love You
My not so typical angel
You took a sinner
And created a believer
So dress up in your T-shirts
And wear those old pair of sneakers
Don't try to be perfect
Don't change cuz' you're already worth it
No, you don't need a label
I can tell from one glance
You're no typical angel
